Thomas McNally is a filmmaker, illustrator, and writer. Originally from County Laois in the Irish midlands, he currently lives in Dublin. He is the illustrator of two books based on the fables in James Joyce’s Finnegans Wake, and both are published by the Lilliput Press. He is also the author of a book on the philosophy of Ludwig Wittgenstein, published by Cambridge University Press, as well as numerous articles that have appeared in international peer-reviewed journals.
Thomas holds philosophy degrees from University College Dublin (M.Litt.), Cambridge University (M.Phil.), and Trinity College Dublin (Ph.D.). Over the past decade, he has worked outside of academia in illustration and filmmaking. To date, he has written and directed three short films: Comedians Anonymous (2023), Irish (2024), and El músico (2025). While he continues to also work in academia, he has recently made the move from philosophy to psychology and is currently a lecturer in psychology at Griffith College, Dublin.
